Bead Trends is currently looking for designs with the following themes for our January 2010 issue

  • Birthstones (Garnet)
  • Anything Goes - The beaded possibilities are endless and not just limited to jewelry. What about pillows, table runners, picture frames, lamps, clothing, candle collars, wine glass charms, and home decor. This category can contain jewelry and a whole lot more!
  • Recycled/Upcycled - Wonderful designs are made from old jewelry, hardware, watches, clocks, belts, purses, leather, fabric, ribbon, paper, rubbber, plastic and more!  
  • Culturally Inspired - Native America, Asia, and Africa are just a few of the cultures with talented artisans creating beads and findings that inspire fabulous designs.
  • Bracelets
  • New Year, New You - Make a statement! Trend setting styles for the new year.
  • Color Trends! - Purple, gold, bronze, brown, and green are at the forefront!

Deadline for the January 2010 issue is 11:59 p.m. MDT, July 26th, 2009. All ideas should be your original work and not previously published.

We will review all submissions, and if selected, we will contact you by August 1st with additional information. All pieces will need to be shipped to us directly for photography and arrive in our office by August10th. Your creation will be returned to you insured, after the issue has been printed.

We are now accepting submissions for hand-crafted items that are not necessarily made with scrapbooking supplies! This includes general craft and sewing projects:

Handmade Ornaments – Here are some materials that we’d love to see you use on some awesome, original handmade ornaments: felt, fabric, clay, paper, beads, glitter, chipboard, string…. Googly eyes, anyone?

Holiday Décor – Wreaths, advent calendars, countdowns, mantle decorations, stockings, tree trimmings, tree skirts, other fun decorations.

Hanukkah – Menorahs, altered gift wrap, countdowns, dreidels, décor.

For the Kitchen – Dish towels, appliance cozies, hot pads, refrigerator magnets, organization center, wall art, etc.

Simple Bags – Dress up those gift bags (could be a simple paper bag) to make the presentation just a little more exciting.

Birthday Calendars – Keep track of everyone’s birthday from year to year with a perpetual calendar.

Getting Organized – altered containers, labels, notebooks, double-duty décor (organizes and looks great), calendars, etc.
