In the Step-by-Step section of Paper Trends we featured this fancy tuxedo card by Angela Sgro. To use the template, simply download the PDF
Tuxedo templates. Open them in Adobe Acrobat and print them out! There are two pages to the template so make sure you print them both.
Card is about 5 ¼ x 6”
Cardstock: The Paper Company; Velvet paper: Hot Off The Press; Brads: Making Memories; Rose stickers: Jolee’s Boutique; Ribbon, wire: Craft supply
1) Download and print the template; cut out each shape and trace it on the appropriate paper. Cut out the traced shapes.
2) Fold the back of the black jacket on the dotted lines.
3) Cut a slit in the collar of the white shirt, fold down the collar corners on the dotted lines.
4) Poke holes through the three small dots down the shirt and insert mini black brads for the buttons.
5) To make the bow, cut ⅝” wide red ribbon to 4”, then fold and adhere the ends under to make a 1 ⅛” loop.
6) Pinch the center and wrap thin wire around it; wrap more red ribbon around the wire and adhere the ends on the back. Adhere the bow to the white shirt.
7) Align the shirt with the back of the jacket and adhere in place.
8) To make the cummerbund, cut 1 ½” wide red ribbon to 3”. Divide it in thirds with thin lines of adhesive, then accordion-fold the ribbon over the adhesive.
9) Adhere the cummerbund to the bottom of the white shirt, hiding the seam; trim any excess ribbon.
10) Refold the dotted lines on the back of the jacket (step 2) to make the card easy to open.
11) Cut two small white pieces of cardstock and adhere to the bottoms of the sleeves to make shirt cuffs. Adhere the sleeves to the jacket back, placing the adhesive on the top half only (from shoulder to elbow).
12) Adhere two pieces of black velvet to the front pieces of the jacket, and set two black brads through the right piece of the jacket. Adhere the pieces to the jacket back, placing adhesive on the sides only.
13) Refold the dotted lines on the back of the jacket.
14) Trim a rosebud and adhere to the right lapel; add a long-stemmed red rose under the right sleeve. Place adhesive on the bottom halves of the sleeves and position on top of the jacket.
