Divide & Conquer
December 2010 Call

Hannah Craner

I am a crafter. I love creating in all forms: jewelry-making, needlework, book-binding, sewing, etc. However, my passion is paper crafting.

I am a graphic designer for CARDS magazine. I feel so lucky to work in an industry I love, doing something I am passionate about. When I am not designing the magazine or playing with my three cute kids, you can usually find me with a stamp nearby and paper in hand.

You can see more of Hannah on her blog:

Conquer and Divide
  1. Thanks for the opportunity!! You guys rock!!

  2. Hi, I have a question I have to email you the card first?? or just send it by email?

  3. Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by stamping cards and sewing cards?

  4. Hannah wrote:

Michele: To submit your card, send a scan or digital picture to us and our editorial staff will take a look. Be sure to include your contact information – name, address, phone number and email address – as well as a complete list of the supplies you used to make the item. For example:

    Happy Birthday Card
    Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
    Patterned paper: Chatterbox
    Decorative brads: Making Memories
    Ribbon: SEI

If we choose your creation for publication in an upcoming issue, we’ll send you an email requesting that you mail it in for us to photograph. Our publications are reader-based, which means we are always publishing fresh new faces. Can’t wait to see what you create!!

Leigh: Stamping Cards are simply cards that were created using stamps and Sewing Cards are cards that were stitched upon is some form.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Can you clarify what you mean by “charms”? I assume you mean metal (or enamel) embellishments that are attached to a card (and Christmas related, of course). Is that accurate? Thanks!

  7. Hannah wrote:

Tiffany: With all of these calls you can interpret them however you want and submit, but I believe our editor was thinking of metal trinkets. Good luck! I’m excited to see what you create!

  8. Lili wrote:

What about “ringing” in the new year? Does that mean it has to be a play on the word “ring?”

  9. Hannah wrote:

Lili: No, it can be any type of New Years card.

Do you we have to specify which category we are submitting a card to?
For instance… what if we have a Christmas card that also incorporates stitching and dry embossing…. should we submit the same card for each category, or just send the card once with no specification?

  11. Candi Billman wrote:

looking forward to submitting some cards later this week :)

When we do submit these cards does a supply have to be sent as well? I saw your example above, but I’m not sure of some of the items that I used for the 2 cards I’ve made since some were scraps!
