Totally cute cards right?! I’m in awe. There is so much talent in the world, you guys are amazing!

For this week’s challenge: Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away, so I want to see lovey dovey cards – BUT – I don’t want to see any red or pink! How’s that for a challenge eh? That way these cards will be able to get used throughout the whole year, and not just on the one designated day of love. Please email your submissions to me at paiget@scrapbooktrendsmag.com by next Friday morning (February 5th) and I’ll have the post up in the afternoon. Have a good week and happy scrapping!

-Paige

I've been scrapbooking since I was 16 years old and love the hobby more each day! I enjoy making things by hand - from cards and layouts to books and baskets. My day is not complete unless I've made something. I'm the Copy Editor for the Northridge magazines and love all the inspiration I get from seeing everyone's creations. On a more personal note, we're expecting our first baby, a boy, in October and we couldn't be more thrilled!

So I’ve had my eye on these Kaisercraft A-5 Binders for awhile — they look really cool, they’re sturdy, and they’ve got tons of room to store stickers, ribbon cards, and other semi-flat embellishments. Kaisercraft sent this baby over to us, along with zippered storage sheets stuffed with cute products from their new Made with Love line, and today… right in time for Valentine’s Day crafting… you can win it. It’s all yours if you’re the lucky random commenter! Winner to be announced Monday morning, 9am MST.

Kaisercraft 2

You’re going to feel so organized. That little lever lifts up to open the rings, pretty nifty.

kaisercraft 3

Rub ons (b&w, color), die cuts, letter stickers, felt shapes, ribbon… nice.

(And now you’ve seen my early 90′s wallpaper and know that I have a wallpaper-removal project in my future.)

Thanks to Kaisercraft for the lovely giveaway! Find Kaisercraft retailers here.

In middle school, I just thought I was being nerdy when I looked for typos on Spirit Week signage – little did I know I was training for a future career in editing. Now a mother of two young children, my days are full of crafting, writing, and activities that amuse the pre-K crowd. I can't get enough vintage typography and poster design, and never met a fabric store I didn't like.

The CHA winter show is coming to a close, but we still have tons of new products, sneak peeks, and giveaways to share!

One common trend throughout the show was happiness. Many manufacturers have created lines that are bright, happy, and in many ways homey and comforting. Perhaps this is the industry’s way of leaving behind the worries of the world.

Here are a few more of our favorite finds:

GCD Studios – Melody Ross design and Chipboard art

melody3

chipboard

Melody Ross designed these happy and nostalgic paper lines. She also released Chipboard Art, a fun system of tools and chipboard blanks that allow you to create custom chipboard pieces.

Tattered Angels – Glam, Glaze, and Chalk

tatteredglam glaze chalk

Tattered Angels expanded their family of art mediums to include Glimmer Glam, Glimmer Glaze, and Chalkboard sprays. The Glimmer Glam includes multi-faceted, custom blended glitter in a paintable form. The Glimmer Glaze is a thicker medium that has the same shimmer qualities as the sprays but in a more viscous blend. And my personal favorite, the Chalkboard spray, is a semi-opaque glimmer spray. If there wasn’t enough good news already, Tattered Angels will be supporting these lines with plenty of free education for consumers and store owners.

Doodlebug – Feelin’ Groovy and Barnyard

doodle_groovy doodle_barnyard

Doodlebug is no newcomer to the happiness trend. Their fun, bright signature style comes to life in several new lines. Notable are Feelin’ Groovy and Barnyard. Feelin’ Groovy is a nod to all things retro – a little ’60s and even a touch of the ’80s! Barnyard is just what you hope to expect: the cutest barn yard animals you have ever seen!

There is much more to come! To see dozens of projects and layouts using the latest ideas and supplies from CHA, be sure to check out the Scrapbook Trends Facebook Page.

Are you the type that’s never satisfied with using something just one way? Do you like to make your dollar stretch? I’m right there with you!

Digital scrapbooking can be an inexpensive alternative to traditional scrapbooking when you know a few tips and tricks. Today I’m going to share with you a few methods for recoloring a digital element.

For this project, you will need: a digital element downloaded from your favorite digital site, a photo editing program (I’m using Photoshop CS4).

Step 1: Open up your photo editing program and open up your digital element. (Keep the element small enough on your screen so that you can open additional dialog boxes to complete this technique.)

Zutter

Check out this interesting tool – the new Zutter Distress. Just as the name suggests, it is an electric edge distresser. It works great on paper, cardboard, and chipboard.
